The Energy Performance Certificate (Greek: Π.Ε.Α.) is a document recognized by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy that details the energy performance of a building.
According to recently passed legislature the document is required for every building with an area of 50m2 and over, in the following cases:
- For every apartment lease, sale of a building (or part of one) or of business premises.
- Upon completion of construction work in a new or deep renovation of a building.
- For admission of a space into the “Exoikonomo” program.
The certificate is deemed necessary for every building (in accordance with N.3661/2008 and the joint ministerial order of approval issued by ΚΕΝΑΚ, the Greek Energy Performance Building Regulation) from 1-1-2016 onward, for every sale or lease. It remains valid for a period of ten years.
